Abusing the Gospel

By going in the prophet’s name to collect money and expensive clothes from Naaman the Syrian,  Gehazi became the grandparent of those who abuse the gospel of salvation.

Gehazi himself had been with God without knowing God. His heart was corrupt and full of lust for material things. He was not saved even though he had credentials of having been with Elisha.

Many like Gehazi have flooded God’s house and taken over the business of the house. A Prophet was crying recently and saying. “This house has fallen. Thieves have broken into this house “

Naaman came with a condition worse than leprosy. He came with morbid pride. The prophet discerned it long before he arrived which was why he refused to see him in person. He sent a messenger to him. This was a test. An attempt to address and cure him of his arrogance. Most people go to God with a distorted view of their problems but false prophets will not know or discern this, simply because they themselves came to God with corruption, with a spirit that has not known salvation. They have not been redeemed from sin. Women and even children are not safe in their hands. They put the cart before the horse. Healing before redemption,  finances and material things before the very cross of Christ. Those who are like them flock after them.

Elisha sought to protect the integrity of God  by refusing Naaman’s gift but false workers don’t care who they take money from. They don’t care about how men and the world see Christ.  Something God Himself is fiercely protective of. Naaman would have gone home thinking he bought his healing but Gehazi didn’t care.

Today salvation is far from the reach of very many  because the gospel has been severely abused. The world has a distorted view of Christ. Everyone imagines every Christian worker is doing it for money.

Naaman went home with healing but without salvation. He returned with his pride intact. The Lord is in sorrow and Gehazi who wanted things he could brag with was accursed.
